Rapier is a weapon added by the Tinkers’ Construct mod. It can be crafted, modified, and repaired at the Tool Station or Tool Forge.

The rapier sword was a civilian and dueling weapon from the 16th century onwards, and it was mainly designed for thrusts, ideally through an opponent with whom you’d had a gentlemanly dispute. These practical rapiers have been designed with safe yet authentic practice in mind.

Obviously, a katana can’t match the rapier thrust for thrust. What a rapier does best is fight point-on with linear stabs, and no heavier, wider blade will possibly out maneuver it. Playing to the rapier’s strength by using a katana horizontally is a losing game.

There is substantial historical evidence for rapiers breaking during fights (in bodies and against other weapons), and I have held several real ones that had broken or even bent points.
Can you use a shield with a rapier?
The only way to use a one-handed sword without the shield in New World is to use the rapier, which is the only available one-handed sword that can be used on its own. It is also impossible to use the shield on its own or alongside other weapons, such as the hatchet or ice gauntlet.
